Well i did it. Took delivery on a 20" Jet band saw. Nice saw except for one big disappointment,no brake! Dont know how I missed that detail it would certainly have been a factor in the buy decision.
Sent them an email tonight, will update with results.
Good points that I had not realized. Thanks for the input. The price difference is not all that great so I'm going for the 20". This also is quite likely to be my last band saw so might as well make...
I have been looking seriously at Jet band saws and am on the fence as to which one to go for. Choice is narrowed down to the 18" and 20" saws. The manual lists both saws as having a 16" resaw...
Finally got a reply from Meber. Price quoted for tires was $45.32 each and $70.25 for shipping. Ouch! Does that seem right? If that is really the case, I am done with these Italian band saws. and for...
Thanks for that, Edwin. I have been to the Meber WEB site but I do not speak Italian. Did you correspond with them in English?
Thanks, Bob. Sulphur grove is where the tires were purchased. They were listed for my saw but did not come with the rib. I have an inquiry in to them now.
I am going nuts trying to find Meber bandsaw tires with the underside central rib. That rib is intended to fit into a central groove on the wheels. A pair of new urethane tires wont stay in place on...
That is disconcerting for sure. I will be sure to use a shop vac in conjunction with this thing!
I wound up going with the Steel City grinder from Circle Saw. It is a good design, the only grinder I've seen with dust collection. Execution on the other hand, was not so much on the unit I...
Great idea, Bob. Why didn't I think of that?
There are three USB ports on the RAVpower. The 2 larger ones are outputs. The small one in the center is the input or charging port. The RAVPower comes with two cables hat can be used either way....
My 3M battery finally died so for a replacement, I purchased a Ravpower 10400. Next was to figure out a way to use it with the helmet. The answer turned out to be fairly easy. The fan assembly...
Thanks, that is just what I am looking for! Circle Saw apparently still has some available so I jumped on it. At 75 lbs. that puppy looks like a real beast.
I have recently gone to CBN wheels with shrouds removed on my 8" grinder. Thing is, the metal filings produced fly everywhere and are just another mess to clean up. At the Phoenix National symposium,...
Our club has a Delta and has run into issues with vibration due to the thinness of the headstock casting. It occurs when turning bowls mounted in a 4 jaw chuck. You will want to keep your bowls small...
OK, so these things are expensive but I am still smarting at almost $27 for a small bit of filter material. Buying in quantity of 10 or more brings the price "down" to $23.84 + shipping at Enviro...
Hmmm no replies. Does that mean nobody has purchased filters for their AS400?
Anybody have a source for the 3M Airstream 400 replacement filters at a reasonable price?
The owners manual lists the filter as part number "AS-140-25 High Efficiency Filter (25/pack)" but when...
Wise move, Bernie. I also just acquired an AS 400. I agree it is more comfortable than the Trend and also have additional confidence knowing the shield is shatter proof. Expensive, yes but money well...
Another solution is to use a strap wrench something like this:

Abandon hope all ye who enter there!!
Enjoy your new lathe!
Correct, it is mounted on a "Lazy Susan" bearing. The whole idea was blatantly plagiarized from our local club's WEB site. You can find the write up at http://azwoodturners.org/ click on...
Lastly, here is a shot of my setup as it is today with the new cabinet just completed. Only problem, it's already too small!
