I've made a lot of boxes of all kinds. That detail for the sliding top is very nice, have not seen that design before. I like it so much I think I'm going to make one next week....

Brian,
As others have said " Great job". A couple of years ago a woodworker buddy of mine gave me an old Uni. Like you I stripped it to the bone, new paint, replaced all bearings and put a new...
I haven't seen any mention of using alder as a secondary wood. It tools nice and is low in cost. I prefer it to poplar as I find poplar to be stringy. I have alder as a primary wood to build...

Steve I tried washing out a foam brush with water, then soap and water, not much luck. Does the water have to be really hot ? I didn't try that.
I went out today and bought a rubber roller Chris...
Thanks Chris,
Since I'm new to this area of woodworking, I think I will get a few different types to check ease of application and clean up.
Louis
Jason, thats a good idea. I like the rubber type that can be cleaned and reused as I have about 40 glu-ups to do.
I think there is a Michaels in Roseville. I'll go by tomorrow.
Louis
Steve,
Thanks for the tip. Would I find it in the paint dept. ?
I have been using 2" wide foam brush. Can you reuse the roller, if so how do you clean it ?

"Joe the Woodworker" sent me a reply to my am email while he's on vacation ! Can you believe this guy...
He confirmed my mix was too thin and should have been more like yellow glue in viscosity....
Thanks Jason for your responce. I will mix my next batch more like a yellow glue viscosity. After doing a test set yesterday I'm not as worried about the open time. It went together quite fast.

Hello Creekers,
I am getting ready to make eight chairs and plan to make the chairback slats out of bentwood curly maple. I have some Ultra Cat resin adhesive from joe the woodworker. I emailed...
Thanks Mike and Chris,
I'll try that method. It just didn't make sence that a product would be ok one day and then shot the next. There has to be some kind of a curve as quality declines.
I...
Thanks Cliff for the quick reply.
It was stored in a dry place and not subjected to attic heat, my friends shop to be exact.

Hello,
I have some plastic resin glue that was manufactured a little over a 18 months ago. Is this junk now or can it still be used for a lamination project I want to start. The specs say "one year...

Richard,
Where did you buy the spring loaded bullet device ? That was a good idea for holding the benchdog in place.
Louis
Julien,
What a nice job ! How long have you been doing tool restorations ?
Louis
I use a set of needle files to clean out the dovetails, works great ! You can get a cheap set at HF.
Louis
Keep the posts coming, I enjoy your work and comments.

Thanks Joe, you cleared this up. My installation will not be a problem, I've allowed for the vice screws when laying out the legs and base. I should be ready the install both bench vices tomorrow.
...
What exactly do you mean by chop ? I am building a bench at this time and will be installing the same vice. When reading the instruction booklet, I don't recall "chop" in the text. did I miss this ?...
Ron,
Follow-up question. How thick is the iron ?
Louis
