    Thanks for the tip on the battens... I drilled a large hole (5/8" dia) under the screws about half-way thru the battens to accommodate wood movement.

    The lights are just the standard halogen lights (Menard's ~$5 each).

    The interior lights are recessed (I think I drilled 1.5" hole)

    The indirect lights are just mounted to the top.

    I'm no expert, but I THINK ambrosia is soft maple...

    I'm no expert, but I THINK ambrosia is soft maple that has the brown streaks which are caused by a beetle infestation.

    I may be wrong... What do the experts say???
