Thread: Is cotton wood useable?

    Cottonwood is one of the true poplars that grows in the U.S. When quarter-sawn and dried properly, it is quite stable. I used it for a double bass back and sides a few years ago, and the result was good, though it isn't pretty. Finishing can be a problem due to the furryness. I basically agree with the chaps above who mention it as a good secondary wood.
