Braille Script for Corel Draw Makes ADA Easy

Our server Administrator Aaron Koehl has created a new Software Forum here and is offering his Braille Script for Corel Draw for $49.95.

Aaron's ADA download includes an interpreter, braille font, his custom script and an install file...everything you need to make adding Grade II Braille to your signs a snap. I have been using Aaron's original script for over a year, the new revision has many improvements.

You asked for it, here is the link:

Could someone tell me if this works with corel x5? I'm afraid I don't know where to look for the answer and I tried messaging Aaron but his box was full. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Julie,

Although I don't have Corel Draw X5 there are a number of people here who are using the Braille Script with it and have not reported any problems that I know of yet.
Possibly one of them will jump in here and enlighten us

Yes, the braille script works fine with X5. I've never used an older version of Corel Draw and I had a similar question last year and just took the chance and bought X5. I really like Corel Draw. One other feature I really like about X5 is the ability to create a drawing from a bitmap. I've used this capability to make DXF outlines for CNC toolpaths.

Aaron I have an older version of corel draw X3 graphic suite. I'm not sure if it's worth putting on this computer which has windows 7 or take the plunge and buy a new version x7 I guess. I never used corel draw I bought it but didn't have time at that time to really put the time into it to learn it so it fell by the way side until I got my cnc and saw Keith was putting on a class for ADA signs. Thanks for any input you can give me.

Question regarding this Braille script -
Does it require CNC cutting with V bits to produce the tapered dots?

I have read somewhere that braille must have tapered sides to the dots - I'm not sure if that's rumor or fact.
If that is true, does the script allow a laser to produce the tapered sides?
Would this be similar to how the Trotec Job Control software produces tapered sides for rubber stamps?

    Mayo,

The primary use of Aaron's braille script is to use it to engrave the braille holes with a laser engraver. It can be used to drill the holes with a CNC router as well, in either case braille is supposed to be round spheres. Tapered sides are not allowed and the old flat top braille has been banned from use as well. Its not efficient IMO to machine round braille in a substrate, producing the holes and inserting braille spheres is the best method.
