    Locks or Latches

Looking for ideas on a all-wood latch or lock for a box...

Not craftsman quality, but something that kids could assemble.

I am thinking of dowels with notches cut across, that when turned to the right 'combination' would allow a slide or latch to free.

I have seen the wood combo lock on woodgears, something along this line - but very simplified and basic.

As I search the net, I get only Japanese Puzzle boxes, or that contraption on YouTube, or woodgears.ca....hoping for another source of ideas....

All you need is one vertical dowel and one hrizontal of the same size. At the point they cross in your box, cut a semi circle out of each at the point of intersection. When the seimi circles are aligned (facing each other), either dowel could then be pulled out.
