    another bench thread

Seems like this is the season of the bench. So I thought I'd post a few pics of my meager attempt. The base is hard maple, with just simple knock down construction ( 1/2" barrel bolts and 2 - 1/2" steel rods in each leg.) I was surprised how strong this arrangement is. I think the steel rods really make a difference.
The top is 4/4 hard maple with a few strips of cherry around the dog holes, and border. It's 3 inches thick and 30x84. One thing I did do, (and I'm sure I'm not the first.) When ripping the 4/4 stock for the top, and the board wasn't wide enough to get 2 or 3 strong 3 inch strips I just cut them 2 inches wide or what ever divided out. Then glued full length cut offs, or half lapped short cut offs together, and glued them to the 2 inch strips. Put the facing up and it looks like the entire top is full length material. And best of all, almost no waste.

Mike, that's a very nice bench.

BTW, you may want to consider posting some larger (in pixels) pictures so that we can see the details, especially of the finished bench.

It looks like a great bench. I too would love to see some bigger photos at least of the finished product.

What Jim said about the pics and . . . That bench is looking real good. Much more style and panache than my beater.
