    Very nice work Ken. You did a great job on the bowl itself, and the piercing looks excellent to me. Your pattern is nice and random. That's hard to do.

    Piercing

    To answer questions posted:
    I did not use a pattern, except that I drilled a series of holes in 3 rings while it was still on the lathe. These were not enough and a few holes were drilled using the burr I was piercing with.
    The edge of the bowl was a little thicker than I wanted at about 3/32". I was hoping to get down to 1/16". The rim started vibrating and with the few small knots there I was concerned about losing it so I stopped. Had to do some sanding to even out the back side of the rim.
