Vacuum pump?

i have a vacuum pump that goes with a vacuum press/mounting machine i use in my picture frame shop. it's a Fasco 1/3hp. Can i use it as a clamping vacuum if i got some rubber sheeting? or would i need to outfit it with some parts to make it work continuously? it takes just a couple minutes to mount things so i've never had it on for long. it's also very loud, but i've seen mufflers?
