Hi all - first time poster here !

Hope someone can help me....

I have recently purchased a very nice (read expensive) six panel set of Western Red Cedar bi-fold doors doors to span a 16ft opening between my Living room and garden.

The manufacturer recommends spraying them with "Sikkens", but a few people have told me that 3 simple coats of Teak or Danish Oil would be sufficient.

On researching further I have had wildly conflicting info. Some say that neither of these oils offer much in the way of protection to my expensive doors, which will inevitably will turn grey.

Whilst I am prepared to treat/feed my doors every year or so - I absolutely do not want this to happen and I want my doors to remain looking like they were made from RED cedar and not GREY cedar !

I also do not want them to look like I have painted them with a wood coloured paint - which is what I fear the Sikkens may look like...

Any thoughts ?

Thanks
Mark
