NIcely done Bonnie! Grandkids and great-grandkids are more fun than kids ever were! You can afford to spoil them and send them home to the parents!

    Congrats and enjoy!

My name is alex also. If only he had been born 2 days later he'd have the same birthday and the same name. Nice rattle

Nice piece, but I have a question born strictly out of ignorance of the species. Is madrone an okay wood for a kid to suck on? Maple is often used, but maple is one that is almost non-allergenic plus it tends to let bacteria die quickly. That was why it worked so well for butcher blocks.

Just a thought. Really like the burned in detail, too. Nice touch.

    Thanks all.

I read up on madrone and didn't see anything that should be a problem using it. I doubt my daughter is going to let him do any chewing on it. It'll most likely be used as a 'clacking' rattle or just put up.

Wasn't trying to be an alarmist, but we all know about tykes, toys, and teething.

Again, nice piece. I hope to have pix of a rattle up shortly. Done one and have 3 more on my workbench. Productive bunch of friends we have.

Oh, no problem Dean, no offense taken. That's why I said it'll most likely be used as a clacking rattle. I'm a bit leery of the rings. The ones I have made I specifically tell the parent "Do NOT let the baby have it without watching them". Lord knows, things happen no matter what. Something like this though can kill a kid if attention isn't paid to what they're doing with it.

Well, Bonnie, it was a grandma that provided me a picture of my rattle, with the kiddo for whom it was made. Check it out under "Test Drive".
