    Shearing cut

I'm curious as to what people mean when they refer to a shear cut or shear scraping.

For we know that any cut, with any tool in any grain direction is shearing the wood fibers.

Is this just a different way of saying a bias cut?

In my understanding of the usage of "shearing cut", yes, if by bias you mean the cutting action (cutting edge) is at a skewed angle to the wood fibers, an angle off of perpendicular.
