    Hornady Bushmaster

What's the insert in the tip?
It looks like plastic to make for a better flight while having the take down of a hollow point.

Does it jam in semi auto feed?

I can't speak for the Bushmaster for sure, but it looks like a hollow point bullet with a ballistic tip. Hornaday recently did a similar thing for lever action rifles with tubular magazines. They created their Leverevoultion bullet that essentially give the old round nose or flat nose bullets a streamlined shape that reduces drag by a significant amount. The old 30-30 rifles with the Leverevoultion bullet now shoot a similar trajectory to a .308 while still being able to be stored nose to tail in a tubular magazine.
