Evidently you don't do much work at the jointer...AND that pan won't catch nearly as much fine dust as your lungs will!

Unless the blades are extremely dull. I've never known my jointer or planer to make dust - always small chips that are too heavy to get airborne.

Just have a shop in an unpressurized section of the space station, with its own solar panels.

That's inspirational. Your offcuts become meteors. Except for the ones which become space debris.

It's also quite quiet if it's unpressurized.

Try a little experiment. Rub some light oil on the walls of the chip chute, joint some wood, and then look in the chip chute. It obviously won't be like sanding dust, but you may be surprised. It also depends on what you're jointing, depth of cut, feed speed, lots of variables.
