    walnut vanity

I would like to share some pic of my latest piece.Black walnut vanity with ebony feet and handles.Curly birch drawer sides yellow cedar drawer bottoms. The half blind dovetails on the drawers were a real challenge. They came out excellent. My client also bought one of my jewelry boxes.A gift to his wife for their wedding anniversary. The finish is shellac and wax.

Andrew, that is just a beautiful piece! You westerners sure get some unbelievable walnut. And, I can imagine the angled dovetails took some planning, but boy, did they come out nice!! Having that grain in the walnut and the birch takes them to another level.

Did you steam bend the apron? Overall, just a stunning piece of work. The wood combination is very comfortable - nice contrast, but it blends very well.

On second look, is the front apron veneered? Just noticed the bookface on the grain.

  10. Nice dovetails. That's a pretty wild grain pattern on the front.

Hi john ,I cut ten 1/8inch strips from 8/4 stock. The last one is figured.I used plastic resin glue and a mdf form.Since i planned on slicing up the apron i wanted very little spring back.I work well. The glue was hard on my chisels and irons. But the trade off was worth it very ridged. Thanks for commenting.
