    Matthews keepsake box

Hey fellas, this is a box I made the next couple of days after my son, Matthew was born. I actually picked up the wood from a cattle pen at my father in laws house. The cattle pen is about 75 years old. All of the wood is heart pine. The lid is heart pine and bookmatched walnut, the box is heartpine. Very simple but it is a piece of fence that his grandfather and great grandfather pieced together many years ago. thanks for looking

Very nice.... excellent use of the woods! I love all the "heirloom" stories that go hand in hand with projects like this.

Now that is really something special. Things like that you just cant put a price on.
    Well done!!
If at first you don't succeed, look in the trash for the instructions.

Really nice piece Kevin! Are you going to perhaps put on the bottom some short description of the heritage of the wood? Might be nice for future generations.

I have worked a little of the old heart pine, it really finishes out well, but can sure gum up a saw blade quickly.
