    If your supplying power from a 50 ampere receptacle you have a major hazard as you have no proper overcurrent protection for those 15 ampere receptacles and the use of a box like that could make the day of a Cal-OSHA inspector, OSHA does not like metal boxes w/ KO's on extension cords. A spider box is a much safer and kosher way to distribute temp power and can be rented, since they are about $450 each new.BTW check out what a full 500 foot spool of cord costs VS cut price you may save some money when your wanting to build longer cords.

  2. Rollie has a good point. Not all events get inspected, but if yours is getting inspected, the cord you showed above will fail. I didn't mention it when the thread started because I didn't know what you were doing with it.

    Some municipalities require inspections for special events and some don't. Some are automatic when a permit is pulled for the event. Sometimes inspectors just show up if the event is well known.

    Aside from inspection, there is also liability, and those are not GFI protected.
