    Wood glue with blackwood

I know that Blackwood is oily, will wood glue work for segmenting?

Never segmented w/ blackwood, but I've glued it plenty for other things. I've found that wiping the surfaces with a solvent just prior to glueing is a big help.

I agree with wiping the surface with acetone or some solvent before glueing. Makes life easier.

Most Blackwood generally does not glue well with the yellow stuff and I'm still not convinced that solvent wiping helps. I tried gluing it a number of ways and experienced both major and minor glue failures. Good Epoxy glue is the best, no doubt about it, but it can be a pain to mix and use. Excel Polyurethane glue works well for me, but you may need to experiment for yourself.
