    Federal style side table

This is a copy of a copy (anyone see that movie Multiplicity?). This happens to be a crude copy of one of Rob Millard's copies:

Mine isn't nearly as ornate, and my inlay and banding is all purchased rather than made. But it does have an applied drawer bead (my first), and this is also my first attempt at any inlay work.

It's mahogany with maple secondary wood. The feet are ebonized rather than veneered. I'm happy with the way it turned out, but geez all the detail work really is time consuming.

    Drawer pull from Horton.

    Finish is as follows:

    - water based dye
    - BLO tinted with dye
    - amber shellac
    - USL

And, another great job! Not sure which I like best, this or the cherry toy chest? Nice work on the inlays, and the dovetails are perfect.

    Thumbs up Nice

I love the table and I don't think your copy is lacking. I would like to make a copy also. My will probably be the wacky one that wants the chain saw. (That is from the Movie folks) You have good taste in movies too!

If I could make dovetails like that, I would never close the drawers !

Great job. One of these days I'm going to try hand cut dovetails.
