    Oak stair case finished finally!

Here are some pics of my oak stair case project. I glued up all the treads and risers from 4/4 and 6/4 red oak and added a bull nose to the treads. I then screwed and glued the treads with liquid nails and covered the holes with plugs. After staining I used three coats of poly, the last being semi gloss at SWMBO insistance. She was right as usual. I really like they way they turned out even though it was a lot of work preparing the rough wood. Thanks to all who helped me at SMC; you made it happen.. Alan in Md.

    Alan,

We didn't make it happen....YOU made it happen. We just helped you along the way with some advice but ultimately, you had to decide what to do and have to say they turned out SPECTACULAR! You should be quite proud to walk and down these steps for many years to come.

How is the slickness of the treads? Can you go up and down in socks pretty easily?

Hi Chris, Thanks, I remember you said I would look at the steps and either hate them or love them depending on how they turned out. It's definitely the later. They are not slippery at all even in stocking feet and actually feel more secure than the carpeted version. I'm watching your project; now THAT'S a major redo. Alan in Md.

    Alan,

Is that a mural on the wall there? It sure looks like it was painted right on the wall!

No that's some of my mother in law's art work. I like her work and of course it's FREE.

Thanks all for your nice comments. I really appreciate

it. Now I can go back and do some regular ww'ing for a change. I feel like I just did about 30 table top glue-ups. Alan in Md.
