    You got the book, might as well follow through and make one, in fact make 2 at once and change the angle and you see which works the best.

    Here is a link to a WIP with regards infilling a plane. There are two sessions. At the start of the second session (about half way) are a series of pictures that assess what improves shaving flow.

    Thanks to everyone who commented on this thread. I'm leaning toward a bed angle of 55 degrees. Before I make it, I will try the back bevel trick on my Stanley No. 4 to get an idea of what to expect.

    I plan to shape the front ramp as Derek suggests. That seems to be pretty simple and effective.

    I'll welcome any further comments or suggestions!
