Plans for a sandblast cabinet

I was wondering if anyone had some plans for a large sandblast cabinet. I have found some online but most are for small benchtop ones. I know I could just expand on it but thought I would ask.

Mike, what did you do for internals?

What do yall use to protect the glass?

I use nothing to protect the glass. My cabinet is designed to use an 11" x 17" piece of 1/4" glass. I buy it 3 pieces at a time and have it tempered. I can get through a car restoration before I get to the 3rd piece. When I use it, I pay attention to the bounce of the media off the part I am blasting, and always try to not have it come back at me (or come back as little as possible). When people come over to "borrow" my cabinet, that is when the glass gets the worst beating... er - blasting.

I used their parts, but I think trolling eBay and Craigslist etc. you could find them cheaper. I am still surprised how well it went together. There are plastic sheets that double stick onto the inside of the glass. I think TP Tools sell them.

I made a r4eally cheezy one from 1/2" ply and a five gallon mud bucket for the reservoir. The gloves were just rubbermaid with extenders from garbage bags taped together. The glass was a sheet of plexi I had around.

The gun was a HF cheapo and the media was glass beads.
worked great.

Media blasting is a pretty basic thing. Air Media and a box.

Of course I had to do it our of doors and wear a carbon filter face mask.

Silica~!! The next Asbestos ( as the tort lawyers like to say)
