Norm's Old Pine Bar as starting point?

I know this thread seems to be the place to post pics of current projects, but I was hoping for advice on upcoming projects (mod, please move if needed). We need a sort of dresser for socks/t shirts... and the space is constrained. Any dresser/armoire would have to be narrow (perhaps 12-16 deep max), but can be tall and wide. I was watching Norm build this.

I might like to copy this and modify it, in dimension, but possibly with some small drawers, maybe even behind the doors.

My question is this. As a relatively new wood worker, I have yet to work from plans. I think it would be very helpful and a good learning experience. Can anyone recommend other good sources of plans for all types of furniture projects with the idea of not quite following them to the letter? Thank you in advance.

I realize that this doesn't answer your question, but since you're already limited to a narrow depth adding drawers behind the doors would take away even more space than just the doors or drawers alone.

As for plans, there are books on making dressers. Taunton has one (http://store.taunton.com/onlinestore...on-070618.html) I'm sure that there are others.

    Thanks to both!

Don, very good point. I wasn't thinking my original idea would have ended up with dinky drawers suitable for paper clips and not much else!

The taunton book looks interesting. I honestly had no idea they sold books with plans like this. Duh (on my part).

P.S. Look at this Dennis. Found it on your site. Might be exactly the carcass shape/size I need. Thanks!
