    Some additional ideas:

I really like my router bit arbor. Some people frown on them because they run the bit slower than it was designed for (mine runs at 9K RPM or so), but for a hobbyist, slower feed isn't a big deal and you quickly get good at it. This gives you access to the big box 'o bits you probably already have. I also find myself running roundovers a lot on the shaper because it's fast and stable.

Lonnie Bird's shaper book is a good resource too. A shaper improperly used can get you very hurt very fast, and the book emphasizes safety and will give you some perspective on whether you want a feeder before you buy the insert cutters that folks are recommending.

Push blocks are important too, just remember they don't insure safety by themselves.

I've run a few solid cutters from Griz, so far no problems in hobbyist use and low cost.
