    Engraving Zinc Plate

I have a bunch of beer steins that have a 95% zinc plate that needs to be engraved. Has anyone engraved zinc before with a laser and if so what settings are recommended if it can be done. I have a 35W Epilog Laser.

The zinc itself won't engrave on a CO2 laser, but Cermark might work, or if you go slow and hot, 100%power 3-5% speed you may be able to suck enough carbon to th surface to make a black mark. If you can do this, you can clear coat it afterwards to protect the mark.. This works for me on Pewter dog tags
Epilog 24TT(somewhere between 35-45 watts), CorelX4, Photograv(the old one, it works!), HotStamping, Pantograph, Vulcanizer, PolymerPlatemaker, Sandblasting Cabinet, and a 30 year collection of Assorted 'Junque'

    Experience is a wonderful thing.
It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
