    GF Enduro acrylic

I am spraying some cabinets with general finished pigmented Enduro acrylic. the can says to sand with 320 or finer between coats. if the finish is going down well, and looks great, it is still necessary to sand?

    Thanks,
    Scott

The purpose for sanding between coats, even if it is level and looks good, is to give it some "tooth" to grab on to for the next coat. WB finishes do not "burn" into the previous layers like solvent based finishes do.

Generally true across most water borne product lines, but incorrect for Target Coatings EM6000 and it's predecessors, Oxford USL and Oxford PSL. They do burn-in. Keep in mind that water borne finishes merely use the water as a carrier. There is still solvent involved which is the actual reducer for the the finish. How things are formulated will affect the finish's properties including this one.

    Jim,
That's good to know about Target coatings. Do they require scuffing the previous coats, or can you lay down another layer without any prep?
