    Shellac Finish

I am putting the last finish coat of shellac on the Queen Anna Highboy I built and have run into a milky finish. Can Anyone help?

    Don,

Milky when applied?..or when cured? Did you mix these flakes yourself?...or was this pre-mixed shellac? Did you use any other type of finish prior to the shellac?...did you switch the type of shellac that you are using?...

    Also...how are you applying it?

Were you applying in fairly high humidity? If so, you might want to apply a coat very, very, very thinned shellac (i.e. almost all alcohol). The alcohol will reactivate the previous couple of layers and allow the moisture to escape.

    Shellac

Hi: The humidity is very high today and the finish is clearing as it dries. No more finishing when the rains are fallind.
    Thanks.
