    Copy of Becksvoort's table

Sorry for the poor image quality, but I had to take an in situ photo and didnt have a backdrop.

That said, this is my version of becksvoort's table. Obviously made of cherry.

The dimensions are 84"Lx37"Wx30"H Top is a hair over 1" thick. Seats 8 pretty comfortably.

Most of the flattening of the 6/4 rough cherry was done with my #7, as I didnt have a jointer wide enough to hand the 8-10" wide slabs.

This was a fun project. I am looking forward to making chairs to go along with the table, but my schedule is pretty tight and shop time has been non-existent lately.

Currently, the finish is shellac over BLO (sun-baked for a day). I will be spraying a target finish when I get around to it.

Underneath (only oil at this point)

Better look at top before cutting tenons/ adding breadboards.

Very nice job! The cherry is beautiful.

Did you do the turnings yourself?

If so, did you have to glue up the blanks?

This table is on my long list of projects that I will probably never get around to building.

Thank you very much for all the kind words!

Frank, I trimmed the top with a straightedge and a circ saw, then router and straightedge to rough in the long tennon. I refined that with #3 and a float. Then cut the finished tenons/stubs with a dovetail saw.

Martin, I did glue the legs up using two blocks of 8/4. The image showing the underside of the table reveals that there is a bit of a contrasting seam visible between the two halves. That really disappeared after it darkened and shellac was applied. The other leg looks better, imo.
