    Staining different color wood tones

I have a built up piece of trim that I am making out of maple. The problem is that I wasn't able to cut it all out of the same piece of wood. Looking at the attached photo does anyone think this is going to be a problem if I am using a dark dye stain? The wood is all soft maple.

Problem? You may need to give the lighter wood additional coats to get the same color. Test a sample build up and see how it goes.

If you can spray the dye and not wipe it, you will get more even results.

I normally use TransTint dyes in DNA instead of water.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
