Direct Current Motor Question

I need to reverse the direction of a direct current motor. Simple question. Do I reverse the field or armature wires?

If it's a simple series or shunt wound motor, you can do either.

If it's a permanent magnet motor you reverse the applied polarity.

Hard to tell without knowing the motor configuration (series, shunt, PMDC, etc). But - you can't really hurt anything by just reversing polarity. So try whatever you want and see what works.
