Here the design really makes the piece. Each walnut piece is quarter sawn walnut plywood with a 1 1/2" solid edge. The top and bottom are only 1/4" thick. The edge is shaped to a soft curve in profile, The stainless rods support the plank by drilling into the floor and the ceiling. The panels follow a curve I laid out with a bent long board on the floor

They are fixed, but I have made pivoting screens. The finish is tung oil and wax

I have been thinking of doing something like this on my wall behind my LCD in family room. Im thinking of hiding the supports behind an just see the wood except from side of course.
