Wood Shells – A New Art Form

This item is an ebook written by Steve Garrison who has developed a method for making wooden shells that resemble shells found in nature. They are made using segmented construction rather than being carved from a solid block of wood. Each segment is cut using either a scrollsaw or bandsaw, and the shell form grows from the inside out much like an actual seashell would grow. A shell can be designed to spiral out either fast or slow – or anywhere between depending on the spiral angle chosen as the model. Only basic math skills are needed despite looking complicated. Steve considers this to be a new kind of art and has sold many shells through art galleries. He continues to discover new ways to improve the technique to allow more control over the shape of a shell to get closer to an imaginary shell he has in mind. Some of his shells are shown here as examples of what this technique is capable of. All of the methods used to produce these are covered in the ebook. There is much more yet to be discovered, and this book contains years of experience.

Contributors can opt in by leaving a comment below. If you would like to purchase the ebook before the date of the drawing it can be purchased for $29.99 through Steve's web site:

    http://www.stevengarrison.com/id19.html

If you buy the ebook before the drawing and then win you will get a refund of your purchase price.
There is plenty of time to make these for Christmas gifts or to give the plans to one of your friends.

    I'm in! WOW!
Wood is very beautiful in tree form. Wood is very useful in burning form. I merely try to make my work honor the first, avoid the latter, and aim for the middle: beautiful and useful.
