Excellent job Dahl. Lots of detail on those and young kids especially love the feel of wooden toys. I bet it was pure h*ll having to sweat over a "hot lathe" turning those wheels... huh? What a miserable task when you could have gone shopping.. etc. with the Mrs. in lieu of turn something!

Ya can fool some the the people some of the time.. but.................

Is there any way to block a thread from being viewable?

Because I do not want my boy to see that fleet of trucks... I would be so out of favor in a heartbeat.

Very nice work. I think toy making is harder than cabinets in many ways.

Very Cool. Did you follow any plans? How did you turn the wheels? Did you turn a block between centers and then drill a hole down the middle or cut them off into pieces and then drill them out?

The plans were in wood mag from 10 years ago to present they were called the fat cat trucks the wheels I made from 2x6 used a hole saw in the drill press then put on a bolt in the lathe and turned the dia to 2 in the hole saw leaves to rough finish so cut larger and turned down and then parted thr wheel in half way to look like a dualy wheel and sanded then drilled to 3/8 for the axle. Made the mistake of takeing pictures in to work to show a freind now he is coming over to make his grandson a fleet like mine. Thanks all for the comments.

Those are awesome!!! I'm a 3D modeler/animator by trade and I can push and pull pixels around all day, but that collection is the real deal!

    Beautiful!

    Hi Dahl-
Great job on the construction. For my latest set of wheels, I parted in some tire treads while still on the lathe. Adds a little more realism, you have to balance it with the overall look of the trucks.

Is it possible for you to make a scan of the plans and email them ?
