    Woodsmith easel picture frame

Got this from a recent issue of WoodSmith. I liked the look of the project and in cherry and walnut (they used birdseye maple & stained poplar), it has a warm, rich look to it.

Doesn't use a lot of wood, but it's fun to build, and the frame itself may be displayed upright or on it's side, depending on the picture you use.

Nice work on the frame, Patrick. But, much better work on that cutie in the pic!! I assume that would be the offspring? You did well - both times!

Yes, that's a 4 year old picture of the little one. The only 5x7 pick I could quickly lay my hands on.

I'm in the process of building 6 of these 2- 8x10 and 4- 5x7. Could you let me know where you picked up the brass hardware.

    Thanks in advance

I used a 10x32 brass machine screw and knurled knobs and washers from Lowe's. Cut the threaded shank to length and epoxied it in.

Nice work, Glenn! Yours looks more like the WoodSmith frames. I wasn't able to get the knurled nuts suggested, so I have wing nuts. No one's going to pay attention to that portion of the project, but they'll all love the frames and easels.

That's only because I lack creativity (didn't mean to thread jack). I agree that the knurled nut is a detail that very few folks will see. Your frames look great and I really like the wood choices you used.
