    YC-15P gear lubricant selection..

    Hello all,

I just recently got a Yorkcraft 15" planer (YC-15P) and I have a question for you guys about how to lubricate the gear box.... I want to change out the gear box lubricant. The manual calls out the following oils/lubricants... (HD-100, Mobil Gear 627, Shell Omala 100, ESSO Spartan EP-100)..

Now the manual for the Grizzly 15" planer (which I'm told is basically the same unit) calls out any good 80-90W gear lubricant, so I went to the local Walmart and picked up their standard 80-909W gear lubricant and I'm wondering if I can use it or if I should try to find one of the specific oils listed in the Yorkcraft YV-15P manual?

    thanks,
    david

David, any standard (non synthetic) EP-90 gear oil will be fine........Rod.

Thanks Rod... That is what I was expecting but it struck me a little funny that Yorkcraft had listed specific oils for their machine.

    thanks again,
    david
