Have saw, missing handle

A little more info about the saw would be helpful. Is it a full size saw, a back saw, or a dovetail saw? Is there an etch or stamp on it that would indicate the manufacturer?

There are lots of old saws with blades in poor repair aval online and at auctions, but the holes may not line up exactly and you may need to drill some new ones.

Another option to consider is to make one from a nice piece of hardwood.

Make one. Not hard to make a functional one, a little bit harder to make a nice one. The problem with 'transplanting' saw totes is the hole location, which is unique (at least in my experience) to each saw. As far as hardware, Joel at Tools for Working Wood sells split nut hardware for handsaws and a split nut driver which you will need to tighten them up, a nice traditional touch; I think Mike Wenzloff also sells them.

Joel of TFWW also offers a Saw handle makers rasp. It has a curved tip but is smooth on the outside part of the curve. Works great for inside rounding of handles.

I made the mistake of buying a lot of saw handles. None of them match the holes of any of the blades in my accumulation of saws.

So, it is drill new holes in the saw plates.

Making your own may be better in the long run.
