    Did Norm just?....

I don't usually watch "The New Yankee Workshop" but I was just looking for the World Series when I came upon Norm. I watched him run a couple of boards through the planer, then walk over to his jointer and say "now the boards are flat we need to make them straight". Is this his normal procedure? I was always taught to start with the face of a board on the jointer then move to the planer to thickness. Maybe I didn't see him face joint the boards but it didn't look like that was where he started. Just curious

Steve, if memory serves me right, he was refering to some 3/16 in strips he had just resawn on the bandsaw.

I also remember that he ran a face over the jointer on a different board on the jointer. I think he was just making sure we were paying attention. I wouldn't change what your doing.
If at 1st you don't succeed, go back to the lumberyard and get some more wood.
