List Of Acronyms - Major Update 10/29/04

    List of Acronyms

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Following is a list of woodworking acronyms. Please feel free to send me a post with additions, modifications, comments, spelling, etc. I’ll update the list as I receive the comments. (Note: not all acronyms listed are strictly woodworking terms, rather used frequently in wood forums).

If you can’t find the acronym(s) here, www.acronymfinder.com.

Added/Modified 47 items: AAOW, AAW, ADOS, AGTH, AMF, ASAP, AWW, BB, BJ, CCD, CS, CSR., CVG, dpi, FMT, GNW, HDPE, IMBF, IME, IMHO, IMNSHO, ISC, JFS, JMHAO, KIA, LFOD, MC, MIA, NHLA, NSL, OBO, OMG, POS, PVR, QED, SCVG, SLR, SOS, spam, SPAM, SSDD, SWIWTP, TAIGFN, TAT, TIVO, TTFN and URAC.

    Deleted 1 items: RBL2

10 Items Not Added Because Of Questionable Language Or Subject Matter: BFD, BFH, DILLIGAFF, DWJFDI, IJWFMOML, HFCC, POS, ROFLMAO, SOL and WAG. (Note: at this time, I really don’t want to get into the pro’s/con’s of the language issue - if someone really wants to know what this acronyms means, send me a PM. I think that most are easily guessed or use www.acronymfinder.com).

    Thanks again and regards, Joe

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for doing this Joseph.

I suggest that this thread should be made a sticky somewhere.

Yeah, thanks Joseph! Also, kind of agree with Frank, but instead of a sticky, maybe the admin may consider having it appear as an "Article"?

I always puzzled over DAMHIKT, but most of my guesses were obscene--and I know THAT wouldn't ever be posted by any of my fellow Creekers! Thanks, Joseph! I've already cut and pasted the list to a file on my hard drive.

    Cnc

There was a new (to me) acronym used this morning. That is CNC (computer numerical control).

I just noticed that another one was missing, that is: G1S (good 1 side)
