    Cherry burl HF

This was turned from a cap I sliced of the trunk from my burl score. Hind sight should have cut deeper into the trunk to get some solid strait grain for a more solid mount. Looked at this piece for weeks before I figured out how I was going to mount it. Cool to watch the tool cutting on the inside through the openings on the sides. Would have liked to hollow out the inside a bit more but felt it starting to get unstable. Rough turned 3-10 finish 12-10 tung BLO mix & wipe on poly. 7" & 3 1/2"

Amazing piece of work. I guess you had to spin it rather fast with all that dead air space.

Not brave enough to try something with that many voids. Congrats on a sweet hollow form.

That is a cool piece. Would like to try something similar but not quite so extreme to start with.

great job, takes guys to turn something like that, especially without a proper tenon.

I thought Steve was amazing in replying to posts before they were posted, but turning wood months before a day actually occurs... spooky.

    Nice looking piece of burl.

Really great job. I love the voids. I give one vote for the thicker walls. I think that the piece is enhanced by having a solid appearance in contrast to the obviously insubstantial form.
