Gary, I got the lumber from PJ white. It was premium grade and the pallet the guy opened up for me had all very nice boards (8-14" wide, some with outstanding grain pattern).
Here are some progress pics.
First is, trying to join a 12"+ wide board using my planer:

The simple box-joint jig to use with the incra jig. There is a screw
on the Incra that allows to do micro-adjustment on the jig to get
perfect fit:
