    Weekend pen

Here's a pen I was able to finish this weekend after my grand daughter finished her pens. On weekends I have to schedule my lathe time around them.

This is a Navigator with a segmented blank of Yellowheart and Purpleheart. I can't take credit for making the blank. A good friend of mine made it for me. I decided to punch out the black insert on the cap and make one using a left over piece of the blank. I also replaced the black ring in the center band with a piece of Purpleheart. The pen has a CA finish.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

    David,

I think that is one very nice lookin pen. Love the top, great touch. I also think it is great that gramps has to share the lathe. That's great, memories last forever.

    Looks like a pinstriped suit

Dave, I like the contrasts of the yellow/purple heart combo in the pen. It looks very business like, sort of what a big time banker/lawyer would carry!

    Nice job,

Good job on the fit and finish. It is not always easy to keep everything in line when assembling.

Very nice looking pen. The extra details are very nice.

My only problem is the LSU color scheme.

Really nice! Needs a pin stripe suit to go with it!

    Thanks everyone.

There's nothing much better than having to share your tools with grand kids.

BTW My 14 year old grand daughter made her first pen sale today.

Very nice pen. I have found that people really like contracting colors in segmented works.
