    Little oak vase.

Following the impetus with the cherry bowl (turned in february / march , many thanks for your comments)
I think it's more convenient (and easy) to give the false sheet of wood a corner shape outside of the bowl
and only a straight relief in the inside.
In that way, this is a little (125 X 75mm) oak vase
    Comments welcome,
    Friendly, Lionel

Lionel, I like the form of this piece standing alone, but the extra "visuals" really adds to the piece. Very nice work, and good looking wood, as well.

Man, I like that right there. I've enjoyed carving for years, and you guys are just giving me more and more inspiration to mix it with the turning. Very well done, looks great!

This is one simple and beautiful piece. The outside carving makes it look folded. You've gone from 3 corners to 1 and I'm still stuck at 2.

    Hi All
    Thanks for the comments
    @ Mike
way to do is very simple and easy:
I turn the vase the usual shape , circa 5mm thick
then I pencil the corner shape and cut 1 to 2mm (one two two remember...) deep following the line
    (caution, not too deep !)
I remove the wood around with a japanese chisel
and then, like you said, there is a lot of hand sanding and refining the corner with mini files.
The rim is cut with a japanese saw (dozuki)
    Lionel.
