    Dye Stain Success

I didn't think I was ever going to get to this point. I appreciate all of the replies and help with this problem from everyone. I stumbled on a product from Charles Neil that is a pre color conditioner. The product is water based and simple to apply.

    The pictures are below.

Picture 1. the board on the left was a heavier cut of shellac with a dye stain applied to both.

    2. This board had shellac, dye stain, and a wet coat of top coat when the picture was taken.

    3. Shellac, dye stain and dried polyacrylic.

    4. Pre Color Conditioner and the cans behind are what was applied over the conditioner.

4,5 Close-ups of the same picture.

I am writing this to encourage anyone fighting with staining to give this product a chance. It took a lot of the frustration out trying to achieve a decent finish to a long overdue project. This is a finish for a dresser I built my daughter who is now 4 months old with clothes still in the floor!

If anyone would like higher resolution pictures I can e mail them. These are hard to see too much detail.
