    Game o' poker?

Just finished my second of these babies. A two-deck playing card case. The original WoodSmith design used 1/4" plywood with veneer. I used the leftover thin sheet of leopardwood from a previous project, laminated to poplar. Padauk for the edging, and walnut for the hinge and end tab pieces.

All in all, it turned out very well. I finished it with BLO topped by Johnson's Wax, so it has a smooth, silky wood feel.

I like it a lot. I love projects that make use of scraps that would otherwise end up in the burn or trash pile.

I'm not sure why but it reminds me of a giant Zippo lighter. Very cool mix of wood.

I'll have to look it up. I know it's the one with the very stylish chess board.
