    A couple from last weekend

I finally got my deck done (stealth gloat) and got some time spinning wood. Due to a rash of graduation parties, I made some pens.

Here I've got a coconut palm Euro, and a curly maple Sketch pencil.

On a photographic note, cheap photo tent + morning sun seems to work ok.

    Nice pens.

The coconut palm looks similar but not same as black palm. How is it turning, compared to black palm (if you've turned that awful stuff).
The sketch pencil maple is beautiful.
    Great job on both.

Very nice. I haven't turned any palm yet, but that looks very pretty. Complex mixture of tones working there. I keep one of those pencils next to my lathe, they are very handy, gave a couple to some artist relatives. I love curly maple, and the size of the pencil shows it off well.

Scott - real nice work on both turnings! Really like that curly maple!
