    First bowl with lid

Here is my first attempt at a lidded bowl. I think this wood is pecan. I found it in fron of a ladys house in Grandview Texas and she said I could take it . Ther were a total of 7 pieces 14 to 20 inches long and about 22 inches in Diameter. I am going to give this to her as a thank you. Im starting to really like this spinny tool thingy my FIL gave me.

    Nice.

Pretty wood and a nice clean design. I like making lidded bowls and people like them too. The lady is really going to appreciate that gift.

Now I like that, and I bet she will too. Keep it up, and send more pictures. I turn a lot of pecan.

That's a beautiful piece, Robert, and the wood you used has a lot of nice character that really sets it off! I'm looking forward to seeing more pieces from that stock. BTW, you're doing the right thing by giving the woman something...not only is it courtious, but it will likely bring you more wood over time. People like to get nice things.

Thanks to all, I don't think it would have turned out as good if not for the tips and inspiration I get from the good folks here. I look and every pic ya"ll post and few of them totally perplex me as to how it was accomplished.
To add a gloat SWMBO let me buy a riser block for my Ridgid bandsaw so now I can start cutting bigger blanks.
The dimensions of the bowl are 6" diameter and 4" tall to top of knob.
