    UV Protection for Painted Sign

I have a question on UV protection. A pastor in my town had a sign painted and wants to know if there is something that can keep it from fading. It was painted with,
    Background indoor/outdoor waterbased acrylic
    Lettering Valspar paint
    Clear Coat indoor/outdoor rattlecan

    Thanks

regardless of what you might put over it, it will only last as long as the paint would on a house. In other words, if it was 15 year exterior paint, figure a little less than 15 years in your climate with all the sun and heat. A better option would have been on-shot sign enamel, but it's too late now. I'd be concerned that the rattle-can clear will not allow the latex to breath, and will cause early bubbling and flaking. Most rattle can clear is oil based. Again, One-Shot makes a clear UV protectant that's water based, it would have been good for this.

You may try Krylon as you can email them and their tech support is pretty good
they may have a special product that fits your needs. They have helped me out
