SMC Fall Turning Contest 2010 (segmented) – Chris Colman

I would like to enter this segmented vase in the 2010 Fall turning contest.

I made it for my wife, who helped design it.

    Details:
    Segmented vase - 10” high, 7” wide.
345 pieces – Hard Maple, Black Walnut, Purpleheart.
    Spray polyurethane finish.
Lit from inside with Christmas tree/nightlight size bulb.

The pictures are in different lighting conditions to show the colors. The last picture is in a dark room with the inside light on.

SMC Fall Turning Contest 2010 (Segmented) Mike Golka

Here is my entry for the Fall contest. End grain box from a lamination of maple, bloodwood, alowood, and cherry. Inspired by a design that was once available from Craft Supply I have been wanting to try my hand at creating a lamination like this. 4.5" tall 3.5" wide. Finish is friction polish.
