Rockler is having a sale on PC router bits, some as low as $8... I was wondering about the general quality of them.

I have been happy with my porter cable bits. They are better than most, not as good as some.
+1 what Glen said. I have a few from the $5 grab box at Rockler. They have done fine but I have not used them enough to speak to life expectancy.

I wouldn't pay top dollar for them, but 50% off or so seems reasonable.

I got the PC slot cutting bit for I think $5 at Woodcraft earlier this year. It's not bad... got the job done.
It's a single bit for basically doing tongue and groove. You take the top slot cutter off when doing the grooves. Problem is that the threads don't go down far enough, so the nut wouldn't reach the remaining cutter. I had to use a few washers to fill up the space. For $5, I didn't mind that inconvenience.
