    Humpty Dumpty Had a Great....

I wish I had taken a before picture of this. This is from a very gnarly flowering almond bush that was given to me by friend, and fellow Creeker Paul Douglas. I honestly did not even know where to start on this, and the form is not what I originally intended, but because I wanted to save as much of it as possible, this is how it turned out. It is 8 1/2" tall, by 5" at the widest.

I learned a couple of things from this. One I need a better direct light source, and two, I need either a smaller , or differently designed tool rest. It got pretty chattery towards the bottom.

    C&C always welcomed, and appreciated.

To say "gnarly" is an understatement!! That wood has a LOT going on, and you did a neat job of letting the wood show its character by keeping this piece clean and simple. Nice work, Ray.

Really well done. I like the form and wood.

Ray, nice job on the ugliest chunk of wood only a turner could love!
I'm amazed that some of these pieces make it to the finish line.

ALRIGHT RAY! Yes, I wish you had a before you started picture. Then everyone could really appreciate what you accomplished. Very nice job. I still have the root ball. This is the same bush I made my last little bird house out of. It is beautiful wood. Maybe I should plant another and wait 20 years!

HEY I SEE YOU GOT A PHOTO BOX!

Richard, after turning the outside, I wrapped it with blue painters tape. Somebody on this forum does this. Seems to work.

Pretty looking piece. I don't have the nerves yet to try something like that. Someday, though.....

That is a "rough looking" piece of wood. I don't think I would have known where to start! Good Job!

Yep, gotta agree, pretty rough looking piece of wood. But you overcame it like a champ, nice job.
